City adventure
options
Your First Class experience wouldn’t be complete without seeing the best of what each country
has to offer, which is why we’re giving you the opportunity to take in the sights with our
suggested in-country adventures. All of these adventures are optional but because we think
they’re too good to miss, we’ve arranged for the winner to be able to ‘purchase’ these adventures
from the spending money allocated in the prize.
Cairo – Day trip to Giza Pyramids
This is your chance to visit the Great Pyramids of Giza, the only present-day survivors
of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Pyramids are full of mystique and never lose
their ability to inspire and overwhelm their visitors.
Dubai – Sundowner Dune Dinner Safari
This off-road Arabian adventure takes you from the bustle of Dubai city to the desert of golden
sand dunes. You will be transported by four-wheel drive for an exciting evening journey over the
undulating sand dunes deep into the heart of the desert. A traditional Arabian welcome waits with
camel rides, belly dancing and a delicious feast of local cuisine.
Beijing – Great Wall and Ming Tombs
The Great Wall of China is one of the greatest wonders of the world, and one of the few manmade
constructions that can be seen from space. Just like a gigantic dragon, the Great Wall winds up
and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus stretching approximately 4,163 miles
from east to west of China. With a history of more than 2000 years, some of the sections of this
great wall are now in ruins. However, it is still one of the most appealing attractions all around
the world owing to its architectural splendour and historical significance, a definite a must see on
your trip.
Hong Kong – Land and Sea day trip
Cruise leisurely around the famous Victoria Harbour with its stunning waterfront followed by a
traditional Dim Sum lunch. After lunch you have the choice of either visiting the famous landmarks
of Hong Kong or exploring the enchanting landscapes and culture of rural Hong Kong. Whichever you
choose your day will be filled with entertaining insights into this international commercial centre
of Asia.
Sydney – Hunter Valley Wine Country Tour
Fresh 'spirits' and fresh air; to savour both, head two hours out of Sydney into the laps of
Australia's oldest wine region - Hunter Valley. On this trip you will be able to sample wine
from some of the large and boutique wineries that fill the area – leaving you with a taste for
Australia that will linger forever.
Auckland – America’s Cup Sailing trip
Usually the domain of billionaires and elite professional yachties, NZL 40 and NZL 41 offer
the unique opportunity for everyone to participate in sailing on these grand prix racing machines.
Passengers become the crew and are encouraged to take the helm, exert energy on the grinders or
simply sit back and enjoy the action as you sail down the Auckland Harbour. The trip suits people
of all experiences and abilities and is the perfect activity in Auckland, ‘City of Sails’.
LA – City Tour
A chance to have a full tour of the Entertainment Capital of the World! Sample the rich history,
diverse culture, sun-drenched beaches and pulsating movie tempos of Los Angeles. With a "movie star
on every corner," and surprises galore awaiting you, you will have a taster of what the City of Angels
has to offer.
New York – Full island cruise
Experience New York like you never have on this 2 hour sail aboard the Adirondack, an 80 foot pilot
schooner. Within five minutes of leaving the dock, you'll forget the mayhem and noise of Manhattan
street life, and you'll feel the relaxing breeze of New York Harbour. You'll take in the famous
Manhattan skyline as it was meant to be seen, from the water - plus spectacular views of Ellis Island,
the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge.
London – Afternoon tea
Afternoon Tea is an institution in itself and a must to escape the hustle and bustle of central London.
A choice of several varieties of tea, finely cut sandwiches, freshly baked raisin scones, jam and
Devonshire clotted cream and a range of delicate pastries combine to make for an unforgettable
afternoon. We recommend afternoon tea at Claridges, voted “Best Afternoon Tea” in 2006 by the Tea Guild,
but some may prefer the more traditional venue of The Ritz hotel. Both offer a high class experience
that will leave you with a taste of the high life.
